Session Title: Calming the Butterflies: Optimizing Pediatric Sedation by Treating Child and Caregiver Anxiety – Panel Discussion
Session Type: Panel discussion
Session ID: 1598196
Faculty: Maala Bhatt, MD, Daniel S. Tsze, MD, MPH, Hilary Woodward, MS CCLS, Vanessa Olbrecht, MD, MBA, FASA
Studies have shown that high levels of pre-procedural anxiety may impact adequacy of sedation and may lead to adverse psychological outcomes.
A multidisciplinary panel of pediatric experts will detail the short and long-term consequences of poorly managed pre-procedural anxiety in children. They will discuss pharmacologic, integrative strategies, and explore novel strategies for treating both child and caregiver procedural anxiety.
Time: Saturday May 4, 2024, 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM ET
Session title: Analgesia & Sedation Research Agenda Workshop
Session Type: Workshop
Session ID: 1604080
Faculty: Rebecca K Burger MD, Alex Rogers MD, Daniel Tsze MD, Todd Chang MD, Shobhit Jain MD, Amy Drendel MD, Eileen Klein MD
This workshop is for those who are interested in impacting the future of pediatric analgesia and sedation. The Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN) analgesia and sedation workgroup has created a comprehensive list of research priorities to address gaps in knowledge in pediatric analgesia and sedation. Using this prioritized research agenda, attendees will discuss potential research studies or implementation science projects to address these identified gaps in knowledge. Through networking and team science, attendee will come away with a research/implementation science topic and the framework for future research/quality improvement project to address the question/topic. In addition, you can identify possible co-investigators in other specialties or institutions.
Time: Saturday May 4, 2024, 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM ET
