The Society for Pediatric Sedation (SPS) was founded in 2007, based on recognized need for a multidisciplinary organization of individuals and institutions interested in furthering the practice and science of pediatric sedation. Our mission statement, “Striving to be the international multidisciplinary leader in the advancement of pediatric sedation by promoting safe, high-quality care, innovative research and quality professional education”, reflects the focus of our mission-based committees: Quality and Safety, Research, and Education. Each committee hosts a flagship program, in addition to other subcommittees that support our mission. The Quality and Safety Committee drives the Society’s well-recognized Center of Excellence designation. The Research Committee guides the productive and well-respected Pediatric Sedation Research Consortium (PSRC), and the Education Committee directs our SPS Annual Conference, as well as the highly regarded SPS Provider Course.
If you have an interest in the field of pediatric sedation, we encourage you to explore our website, attend our conference, and consider becoming a member. We take pride in our truly multidisciplinary membership, and welcome physicians, nurses, dentists, child life providers—any healthcare provider with an interest in improving the experience of pediatric patients who undergo procedures.
