The Society for Pediatric Sedation® (SPS) strives to be a leader in the advancement of pediatric procedural sedation by promoting safe, high quality care and by being a resource for published guidelines and consensus documents relating to sedation. This Sedation Policy Template has been developed from expert opinion through the SPS Quality and Safety Committee utilizing published resources and information from multiple institutions’ current (2015) sedation policies. As such, it may not be applicable to all institutions and all sedation providers. Each institution should develop a policy reflective of the specific needs of its patient population and consistent with state, local, institutional and other relevant regulatory bodies.
The authors of this Sedation Policy Template have made efforts to ensure that the references cited are accurate and up to date as of the time of the template’s publication/posting. However, it is strongly recommended that users find independent and current sources to confirm the information contained within is correct. Neither the Society for Pediatric Sedation® nor the authors accept responsibility for any inaccuracies, information perceived as misleading, or the success or failure of any procedural sedation or sedation program based as a whole or in part upon the SPS Sedation Policy Template.
